EDITOR NOTE

I greet you all in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”

Inspite of the congestion of 120 disciples gathering in one of the upper rooms, the Holy Spirit descended on them with great power because they were all waiting in oneness and prayer. But others who were murmuring, chose the wide way for themselves.

Many don’t want Jesus and the cross but they like to have His glory and Kingdom. Mathew 7:14 “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

One servant of God for the love of the cross was in prayers and fasting, the Lord used him powerfully. Many souls were saved. After many years he had a car and a bungalow and many riches came into his life. So after some time his love for God and God’s presence in his life was no more. There was no peace in his life. One day the Lord spoke to him saying, “Go back to the cross.”

Lot did not like to remain with Abraham. He did not like the great blessings God had given Abraham; his eyes were upon the fertile land of Sodom. When God decided to destroy Sodom, Lot had to leave Sodom and run away. His wife became a pillar of salt. His children had relations with the gentiles whom the Lord did not like; they produced a generation that was not pleasing in God’s sight.

A certain man had two sons and the younger said to his Father, “Father give me the portion of goods that falls to me.” So he divided to them his livelihood. Why did he ask for his share? To do business and earn? No, but he selected the wide way, as he wanted to enjoy life and all its luxuries.

Elisha was speaking to the sons of the prophets of holiness since God was with him and he had the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These sons of the prophets could have risen to high positions if they had listened to Elisha. But they started murmuring because they wanted to be separate. 2 Kings 6: 1 & 2 “And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us. Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.”

Here we see how they wanted a house for each one of them.

We see the same thing happening amongst the believers and the congregations today, they want to be separate and don’t want to be in unity. Some people when they receive a little anointing, think they have received everything and become proud.

Look at Elisha, who for 14 long years learned to be humble and under Elijah’s hand. He learnt many things from Elijah. Finally we see that since Elisha remained till the end with Elijah, he got a double portion of the gifts that Elijah had.

1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” So beloved brothers and sisters, let us humble ourselves before the Lord. Honour the elders, obey parents and love the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul. Let the Lord bless you all and keep you in oneness, till we meet again. Your sister in Christ. Praise the Lord. I was suffering from headache for the last 3 years but the doctors were not able to find the reason for the same. I had undergone lots of medication but with no results; finally the doctor told me to do a MRI test. Then I told this matter to Pastor Saroja who assured me of her prayers. I went for the MRI test and only by Lord’s grace and by Pastor Saroja’s prayers my MRI report was normal. I give lots of thanks to Pastor Saroja who prayed for me and also give lots of thanks to our Lord Almighty who heard Pastor Saroja’s prayers and showered His grace on me. I sincerely thank Pastor Saroja for always praying for me and my family whenever we need it.

Praise the Lord. My younger son had submitted all the documents to the passport office for making his passport. All the documents were clear and the process went on further, but while clearing the police verification there was a problem. The police people were not letting the passport process go further and they were not even ready to tell or speak about the passport issue. Then I requested Pastor Saroja to pray so that we get his passport without any problem and Pastor assured me that she would keep it in her prayers and within 1 week we received his passport by post without any problem. I thank my Lord for all His good miracles. I would like to thank Pastor Saroja for always keeping me and my family in her prayers and I give all praise and worship to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord. I was suffering from acidity, but I neglected the same and took a general medicine for it. For a while I got relief, but after few days again I suffered the same thing. But this time due to the acidity I got other problems also, such as mouth ulcers, burning of the throat and chest as well. Then I told the whole matter to Pastor Saroja who prayed for me fervently, and following her advice I applied the prayer oil inside my mouth. By God’s grace I am perfectly fine now. I give all glory to Lord Jesus for healing me and I also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent prayers.

Praise the Lord. I was having stomach ache and the pain was unbearable. I told this matter to Pastor Saroja and she advised me to drink the prayer oil in little boiled water. I did what Pastor advised me to do and after some time the pain vanished completely. I give all glory to our Almighty God for healing me and thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent prayers on the prayer oil and for my family.

Praise the Lord. I am glad to testify the goodness of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in healing me. I had a problem in passing urine for about 6 days. On Sunday I asked Pastor Saroja to pray for me. Within two days I got total relief. I had not been to any doctor. I thank and praise God for healing me. I also thank Pastor Saroja for her effective and fervent prayers for me.

Praise the Lord. I had fever and severe one sided headache, after the Saturday service I told Pastor Saroja about the same. Pastor Saroja kept her hand over me and prayed to Lord Jesus. By Lord’s grace I am totally healed now. I give all glory to Lord Jesus for healing me and I also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent prayers.

Praise the Lord. This is only Lord’s grace upon our family for which I testify about my son Irwin who had very high fever for two days. We gave him medicine but it was of no avail. Finally on the third day we took him to the doctor for checkup. When the doctor examined him, he told us that there were chances of jaundice as the haemoglobin count was quite low. We informed Pastor Saroja about this and she prayed fervently and continuously for Irwin. The Doctor had kept Irwin under observation for two days. By Lord’s grace and mercy, after two days there was no fever and any doubt of jaundice was completely cleared. I give all glory to Lord Jesus for healing Irwin and I also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent prayers and for always keeping Irwin in her prayers.

 The Storm Story

Years ago, I was enthralled as I listened to a Pastor who for several years had faithfully served the church. His executive responsibilities had taken him all over this country. As he concluded his message, he told of one of the most frightening yet thought-provoking experiences of his life. He had been on a long flight from one place to another. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: Fasten your seat belts. Then, after a while, a calm voice said, “We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened.” As he looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive. Later, the voice of the announcer said, “We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us.” And then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightening lit up the darkening skies, and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One moment the airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as if it were about to crash. The Pastor confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, “As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly all the passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying. The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm.” Then, I suddenly saw a little girl. Apparently the storm meant nothing to her. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat; she was reading a book and every thing within her small world was calm and orderly. Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world. When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm, when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid.” The minister could hardly believe his eyes. It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and all the passengers were hurrying to disembark, our Pastor lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time. Having commented about the storm and behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid. The sweet child replied, “Sir, my Dad is the pilot, and he is taking me home.”

There are many kinds of storms that frighten us. Physical, mental, financial, domestic, and many other storms can easily and quickly darken our skies and throw our plane into apparently uncontrollable movement. We have all known such times, and let us be honest and confess, it is much easier to be at rest when our feet are on the ground than when we are being tossed about a darkened sky. But always remember JESUS IS IN CONTROL…AND HE IS TAKING US HOME!!

Bear much fruits so your Father may be glorified

Timothy 1:16-18 “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.” As we see in this world, when a person is unhappy or down in life, there are no comforters or friends around him. We have also seen in many parables in the bible, how those who have plenty of money have plenty of friends. But when they lose everything, they lose all their friends too. Similarly, when each of us suffer, and are in pain and sorrow in this world, there is no earthly comforter for us; we have to bear the pain and sufferings alone. Even our near and dear ones leave our hands and vanish during painful times. But at that time, we the children of God must remember that even if the world or its people forsake us, our God will never forsake us.   Sometimes God separates us in this world from our friends, family and dear ones, so that we may bear much fruit. In John 15, Jesus talks of the parable of the vinedresser. John 15:2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” God never makes us orphans, but sometimes He just separates us so that we may bear much fruit for Him. In the lives of the children of God, we must never feel that we do not have anyone to share our sufferings, sorrow and pain; we must know that God never forsakes us, but in order that we bear much fruit for Him, He will separate us for some time. There are many people in the bible that God has separated in like manner. We all know the story of Prophet Jonah. God asks him to go to Nineveh, but he disobeyed God and decided to go to Tarshish. We know how problems came upon him. God sent a storm in the sea and the boat Jonah was travelling in started sinking; the people began yelling and screaming, then Jonah told them to throw him into the sea and the storm would be calmed. It is only when the people threw him into the sea, that the storm was calmed, thus saving the people in the boat. Here we realize that sometimes the Lord God separates us from people so that He may bless us even more and make us happier and blessed. God will never make us an orphan, for He is with us even more at such times in our life. John 15:7-11 “ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” How can we abide in God’s love? By keeping His every commandment. When Jesus Christ was in this world,  He obeyed every commandment of His Father’s; so also if we abide by the commandment of Jesus Christ, our life will surely be fruitful and prosperous. On our own we can do nothing, this is only possible by the grace of God in our life. We have seen in the bible how the lives of people was not always free of sufferings, pain and sorrow. Once, Apostle Paul too encountered such sufferings in his life. At that time he felt lonely and alone in that time of great pain. Paul wrote a letter to his spiritual son Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:16-18 “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.” Paul wrote to Timothy about the family Onesiphorus, who always came and met him in the prison and were never ashamed to support and help him. He prayed for this family and lifted them up in his prayers. We know that Paul was lodged in different prisons in Rome, but this family searched for him and helped him through his trying times in the prison. We know that when we have nothing with us and we are in such a situation, no one comes forward to help us, not even our family and dear friends. But God’s children will never be forsaken, hence Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy about this family Onesiphorus, who helped him through his ordeal in the prison. Whether people support us or not, God will always be there for us. We also know of Job’s life in the bible and how he lost everything; his wealth, property and his family. His wife walked out on him, and his friends cursed him. Job 19:19 “All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.” We must remember Job’s verses well and by-heart, because it will strengthen us through our tough times and we will be encouraged and they will help overcome our sufferings, pain and sorrow. When Job had everything in life, he had many friends and they were also very close to him.  He used to share his sorrow and pain with them. But when Job lost everything, even his friends started cursing him. This we have seen from beginning times, in the bible. When people know our weakness, they take advantage of us. Here we see how Job lost everything; his close friends too left him and how God tested his life. But we have seen in Job, that there is one truth that is close to him – he knew that His Redeemer lives. Job knew his mighty God, he knew God’s strength and His love for him.  Job 19:25-29 “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.” We see Job’s faith and belief in God. Even though his friends ridicule him and try to weaken his faith in God, yet Job stands up firm for God and never curses Him. We must fear the Word, for every Word that comes out of the mouth of God is like a double-edged sword.  This sword cuts evil people. Job says to his friends “Fear God, He is the one that we all have to stand before in judgment.” We must fear the Lord God, for it is only when we fear Him, we will never talk foolishly about Him. Even in our ministry, we have seen how all our dear ones took advantage of us, thinking that we were foolish and knew nothing. But we know that the God who called us to do His work will never leave us nor forsake us. Even before God called me to serve Him, He knew that I was uneducated and lacked wisdom of these things. But God chose me knowing my heart and zest to serve Him. Now I can boldly say that our Lord God is working even mightier today than those years when many people were around to supposedly help us. If we see today and compare it to 3-4 years ago, today our newsletters go out  monthly, calendars are more blessed with the ‘daily Word’, we have received encouraging ‘Promise Words’ and our Website is also much more beautiful and informative as never before. God has opened more doors for meetings so that His Word can be taken far and wide. By this we must understand that God has separated us with a purpose, so that we become much more fruitful and bear much fruits for His glory and kingdom. This is the truth and we must believe it. Our God did not forsake us, rather He prospered us even more. We must remember that our Redeemer lives. God will come one day and we will all have to stand up to face His judgment. We must also know that the ‘Word’ is a double-edged sword and we can be cut off completely from this world, if God so desires. As Job spoke in vs 29 “Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.” We must fear the sword and judgment will come to us in this world itself. Remember the victory God gave Job in the end; how God added all that was lost in his life and blessed him with a double portion of riches and wealth and how his daughters were more beautiful than any other in this world. Let us also see the life of Jesus Christ, when He lived on the face of this earth. Jesus helped different people differently. But as we read in Mathew 26:56 “But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.” All his disciples left him and ran away. These were the closest to Jesus Christ, who saw Him perform all miracles, who knew His strength and love. They were the ones closest to Him and they knew the ‘Truth’. But these were the very disciples who forsook Him when times of trouble came upon Jesus Christ. We know that Peter denied him thrice, while the others ran away from Jesus Christ when He was captured. John 16:32 “Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” This is what Jesus had already prophesied; yet He said that when such a time would come, though all of humanity would forsake Him, He would not be alone because the Father God would be with Him. There is a story of a mother and child; one day there was a flood and the water levels started rising higher and higher. The mother protected her child and started holding the child higher and higher, finally she had to keep the child on her head, but when the water reached her own neck and when the mother started drowning, she put the child under her feet and stood on the child. This is the world that we are living in today!  Jesus says in the bible that there will be two and one will be taken – from the fields, or bed, or working together. In the end, there will be no one for anyone… to each his own. But at that time, those who have complete love and faith in God, those who keep His commandment truly with all their heart, mind and soul; they will be saved. Jesus also says those who love their mother, father, son daughter, friend more that Jesus, are no one to Him. None of the relationships in this world are worth it or can bring salvation into our lives; neither can they save us at the end. Many a times, we do so many things in our lives against the wishes of God, in favour of a sinful person in this world. But in the end we must know that the same person will ditch us in our life. For those who know the Word, the truth will set them free – not tomorrow, not today but now. Sadly, many of us don’t know the truth even today! We know the story of David; he was a valiant man but suffered a lot of pain in his life. Through all his pain and sufferings, he bore much fruit for the Lord. Psalms 38:11 “My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.” Even in our life, if we are not prepared to separate our lives from our loved ones, we will be destroyed in the wilderness itself. Here, David says that when he was deep in suffering and sorrow, even his own family stood far away from him. We must learn from the different lives in the bible, so that our own lives may be strengthened by their sufferings. When troubles come into the lives of God’s children, we must know that God’s testing times are at hand. Psalms 102:4-7 “My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.” When David felt lonely, we know that during his pain and sorrow, God was with him. Even his own family did not love him, rather they treated him only as a servant in the house. But God’s eye was always upon David and he never forsook him. Though his brothers were all trained to be in the army, David was sent to look after the sheep in the field. But when Samuel came searching to anoint Saul’s successor, God made him choose David as the successor. God sees the ‘truth’ in our hearts. When troubles come over us again and again, we must look within ourselves once again to see where we have gone wrong in our lives. David did make a mistake in his life too – when the evil one told him to count his people, and David put men in his kingdom to count the Israelites. God’s anger came upon David, and God sent sickness upon them and people started dying. At that point David realized his mistake and asked God for forgiveness knowing that he had sinned against God. We too must realize when God has separated us and when we have stopped bearing fruits in our life; accordingly we need to check our lives once again. Job said to his wife “Naked I came, naked I will go, but I will never curse my God.” He knew that his Redeemer lives and was watching over him.  In Apostle Paul’s life, he faced many sufferings, pain and sorrow, but God was always with him. 2 Timothy 4:16 “At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.” Paul says that when he stood alone, there was no one to give witness and testify for him. Yet, he pleaded that the Lord’s sword should not fall upon them. When Paul was doing God’s work, the people he worked for also cheated him and gave him sorrow and pain. Yet, Paul asks God to forgive these people in spite of the fact that they had forsaken him. This reminds us of how Jesus Christ prayed to Father God and said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Yes, Jesus came for us, suffered for us and was crucified for our sins on the Cross, but the people who surrounded that place at that time challenged him to come down from the Cross and build the Church again in 3 days, even as He had preached. At that time, Jesus prayed to His Father from the Cross. The people were screaming to have the thief Barnabas released and instead crucify Jesus. Didn’t the people know what they were doing? Didn’t they know that they were doing wrong against Jesus? No they did not know. Likewise, even Paul prayed asking God to forgive the people, for they did not know what they were doing. In the bible, we have seen people who have obtained victory through their pain and sufferings; their names are mentioned in the Holy Book. We too must be strengthened by the Word, we must know that when sufferings come upon us and when we have sorrow and pain in our lives, we are never alone, because our friend Jesus Christ is with us always. He is not a partial God. He never sees our face and blesses us; He sees our heart and blesses us. He knows our every thoughts and words and deeds, hence we must always fear God. Mark 13:13 “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Because of God’s name sake, we will be humiliated by the Gentiles, but if we stay strong till the end, we will get victory eventually. The evil one wants that we curse God and die. But till our last breath we should not lose hope. We are all naked before God and we have nothing of our own; our faith and belief must be in God alone. No evil can win over us when we stand firm and strong in the Lord. During our sufferings, pain and sorrow, we must never disbelieve God, we need to put our entire trust and faith in Him alone. Our heart must be stayed on the Cross, then only will all our humiliation be nothing. We must remember how Jesus’ back was ploughed and how his flesh was separated from his bones for our sins. We must always be focused and our faith must be stayed on the Cross of Calvary alone. We should bolster our courage from the people mentioned in the Holy Bible. Remember, God will give us only that much suffering that we can bear. Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” We should rejoice in the Lord always at all times and in every situation. We should never forget our relationship with God, especially in times of trouble. We must always and everyday be happy with the Lord. The people of this world must see our relationship with God and we must be a good testimony for the Lord. We should always defy the evil and their people; the devil always wants us to grumble and be angry in life and curse God. But God’s word says Rejoice in the Lord always. We may have many sorrows and pain in our lives, but we must take it all to God’s feet with supplication and thanksgiving and praise God!  We know how in David’s life, Saul pursued him to kill him. But God chose someone from Saul’s family itself to save him. While Saul pursued to kill David, his son Jonathan tried to save David. 1 Samuel 18:1 “And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” We may have many enemies, but if God sends one Angel, it is enough to save us. For us, God’s people, who put our faith and trust in Him, God will never forsake us. Psalms 139:8-11 “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.” None of us can escape God’s sight and for those of us who believe in Him, He will surely make the way for us. Thus it is important for us to know that we will never be be hidden away from His sight. God is always with us. In whatever situation we are, He will come searching for us. Psalms 91:11-12 “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Be strengthened by this message, for God’s separates us so that we may bear much fruits for His glory and Kingdom. We must not be weakened by our pain and sufferings; rather we must be strengthened by our faith. When we are strengthened by our faith, then God is not far from us, rather He is close to us and will give us victory in our every work. The same God sees each of our sufferings, pain and sorrow and when God is with us, He will bless us always! When we love God, when our faith is upon Him, He will lift us up even today. We will never be alone. He can restore blessings into our lives once again. Let this message be a blessing in our lives. Praise the Lord!

Rose of Sharon Old Aged home

Praise the Lord! I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The 6:30 pm prayer time is the most awaited time of the day for all the inmates as they gather together in praise and worship. They also enjoy the spiritual music being played in the Home throughout the day.

Sis. Annie Fernandes who is 79 years old is in the new member in our Rose of Sharon family. She is in good health, talks to everyone and has already mixed with all the inmates very well. She loves to go to Church and to hear the word of God. She has a little weakness in her mind but I believe my God will set her free as He has strengthened many inmates earlier and freed them from their weakness. I believe our Lord will help her too.

I thank my Lord Jesus for His eyes are always upon all the inmates and without His grace I would not be able to run the Old aged home.

Dear brothers and sisters do continue to pray for the Rose of Sharon Old aged home so that the Lord may bless all the inmates and keep them in good health always during this last stage of their lives.

Praise the Lord! Another month gone by at our Rose of Sharon Sunday School. Time just flies!

 The kids had a good brain storming session on the book of James chapter 1. The class was divided into two teams and each team shared the learning post the Bible reading of each verse.

It was wonderful to know how each kid participated and responded to readings and explained the meaning of words as patience, wisdom, faith ,testing and whole list of learnings. Of the all learnings it was a blessing to understand how the little kids accepted these learnings.

They were questioned on wisdom with reference to James 1:5, which is one of the fondest memory verse we would have learnt in our Sunday class. The verse would be like a capsule that we would take before the examination stress. We would recite the verse over and over again as kids before entering the examination hall. 

Our kids in Sunday school not only learnt to recite the verse, but the most important learning of it was to in FAITH to ask for WISDOM!
